What is VOIP?
VoIP refers to a way to carry phone calls over an IP data network. One of the primary attractions of VoIP is its ability to leverage a company's existing data network to route voice traffic, which can help to reduce monthly expenses.
Companies with multiple branches or locations that are already tied into the main site's data network can utilize VoIP to tie phone systems together to create a single seamless telephone system. As a seamless system, resources such as voicemail, local phone lines and receptionists can be shared across the system.
There are many reasons to implement VoIP:
- Reduced long-distance telephony charges
- Lower Capital Costs
- Lower Management and Administrative Costs
- Reduced Complexity (single infrastructure)
- Improved Integration of Remote Offices
Alliant Communications implements both pure IP-based phone systems as well as IP-Enabled PBX's depending on the customer's specific needs.
